Schilling Beer Co. cofounder Jeff Cozzens makes the scene at Monk's on Tuesday, January 14 at 5pm, bringing along a prime selection of Schilling brews to the back bar. This casual hangout features six standout Schilling beers, available while they last. Founded in 20213 by Jeff, his brothers Matt and Stuart, and lifelong friend John Lenzini, Schilling Beer Co. is a modern European-inspired craft brewery in the heart of the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Schilling is well-known for their world-class lagers, including benchmark Alexandr Czech-style Pilsner.
Scope the list of fresh and cellared selections below, and come through on January 14 for this fresh taste of the White Mountains.
Alexandr:
Crisp, clean and sessionable, with a firm but rounded hop backbone, Alexandr is the first and original Czech-style pilsner crafted at Schilling. Czech Pilsner, 5%abv
Pettenbach:
Collaboration with Braueri Schloss Eggenberg (Austria). Named to honor the Upper Austrian village of Pettenbach, this wintertime Bavarian-style Dunkel is malt-forward with notes of toasted nuts, light toffee and cocoa nibs. Export Munich Dunkel, 6%abv
Wolf:
Collaboration with Zillicoah (NC). Wolf is a dry hopped lager developed with NC's Zillicoah Beer Co., which suffered catastrophic damage during Hurricane Helene. Inspired by Sierra Nevada's Celebration Ale, Wolf pours an unfiltered amber color with notes of pine and citrus zest. Earthy spice notes with resin and grapefruit dance on the palate. *All proceeds from Wolf will be donation to Zillicoah's rebuild. Dry Hopped Amber Lager, 5.6%
Vesely:
Brewed in the tradition of Czech brewers brewing higher strength beers for the holiday market, Vesely finds a garnet hue with notes of toasted bread and slight almond with a crisp finish. Czech Polotmavy Lager, 6%abv
Blend No.1:
Blend No. 1 is a blend of 1-, 2-, and 3-year aged spontaneously fermented beers. Each blend rested overnight in our coolship, open to the microflora blown in from the Ammonoosuc through the windows. Transferred to a variety of barrels and century-old puncheons, the blends transformed over the ensuing months and years prior to blending. Pale golden in color, with lemon, pear, and funky aromas on the nose. With mild acidity and notes of hay and light apple hit on the palate. American Wild Ale, 6%abv
Timbre:
A balanced, bold barleywine aged in a mix of bourbon, rye, and port barrels for over two years, Timbre pours a deep brown color with a wispy head. Dark fruit, dried apricots and port barrel shavings immediately engage the senses. Bourbon-soaked plums, sweet sherry and burnt brown sugar emerge as the beer warms. A subtle alcohol warming is present in the finish. BA Barleywine, 11.5%abv
