Looking for ways to volunteer your time and give back to the community? SC Department of Natural Resources has multiple opportunities open to PTK members to volunteer and get involved.Join the South Carolina Oyster Recycling and Enhancement “SCORE” team to construct Modified Wire Reefs (MWR) that will be an alternative substrate for oyster larvae to land and grow on. Dates to dive in every month this spring!
Volunteers will help to cut, bend, and fasten galvanized wire to form a reef structure using power tools. Volunteers must wear closed-toe shoes. Safety gear, bug spray, water, and other needed materials will be provided. Click here to view a video of the reef building process:
