The Cathedral Schola, Trinity's professional vocal ensemble, joins Portland Baroque Orchestra for an evening of extraordinary music for Passiontide.The program pairs two of the Baroque era's most profound works: Domenico Scarlatti's Stabat Mater for ten voices and continuo, and J.S. Bach's Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit, BWV 106, the funeral cantata known as "Actus tragicus."
Together, these works trace a profound emotional arc: from Scarlatti's aching portrait of grief to Bach's quiet calm in the face of mortality.
Experience these rarely-performed masterpieces in the resonant acoustic of Trinity Cathedral. Featuring soloists Vakarė Petroliūnatė, Hannah Penn, Les Green, and Daniel Pickens-Jones and members of the Trinity Schola.
