Scarborough - The Power of a Community Bond Investment
About this Event
What if the asset your organization already holds could become the engine that funds your next chapter?
What if a Community Bond could help you acquire a long term asset like real estate!?
That's the question behind a community bond investment vehicle, a financing tool where individuals and institutions lend capital directly to an organization, rather than donate it. The capital gets put to work, the organization repays it over time, and the people who believed in the mission early share in the return. It's collaboration, structured as capital.
Join ACBN for an invitation-only session on how this model works, and how it can be a meaningful tool for nonprofits and community organizations exploring sustainable, community-rooted funding.
We'll use ACBN's own Affordable Housing Project in Woodstock, Ontario as a working example how an organization can leverage land it holds to raise a community bond, fund operations, and build a long-term asset that creates wealth for the community it serves.
In this session, we'll cover:
• What a community bond is, and how it's different from a grant, a donation, or a traditional loan
• How an organization's existing assets — land, property, or other holdings — can become the foundation for raising community capital
• ACBN's Affordable Housing Project as a real, in-progress example: the model, the structure, and what we're learning
• How collaboration between nonprofits, investors, and community members makes this kind of capital possible
• Questions and open discussion — bring your own organization's situation to the table This is a working session, not a lecture. We want this room thinking about how this model could apply to your own organization's assets and goals. Seats are limited and by invitation only.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Nonprofit leaders, community organizations, and community members interested in understanding alternative, collaborative funding models for mission-driven work.
