About this Event

Please join CCAT and Electron Microscopy Innovative Technologies, LLC (EMIT) for an in-person training class at The Advanced Technology Center, 409 Silver Lane, East Hartford, CT.

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) is a high resolution technique capable of imaging materials up to >100,000X magnification. This technique is routinely used in industry for quality control and failure analysis. This training course will cover the basics of how to run a SEM equipped with an Energy Dispersive Spectrometer. At the end of the training customers will have the ability to run the microscope for their own samples on an hourly basis.

Learning Objectives:

  • Background and introduction to Scanning Electron Microscopy
  • Learn how to load sample, focus and save a SEM image
  • Learn how to run Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) analysis for measuring the local chemistry of a material

Registration for this training is required and lunch will be provided. This workshop will require a minimum of two attendees to run.

All visitors attending training at CCAT’s Advanced Technology Center will be required to sign in and present proof of citizenship. Acceptable forms of identification include: verified license/ID, passport, green card, or birth certificate.
