This panel discussion will delve into the key strategies for successfully growing MedTech and HealthTech companies, including clinical validation and regulation, market access, funding, scaling operations, team building and governance, as well as the role of AI and other disruptive technologies.

The ‘Scaling Up MedTech and HealthTech Ventures’ event is organised by the HBS Alumni Angels of the UK in collaboration with the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering. This panel discussion will take place at LIHE landmark premises on Wednesday evening, 26th February 2025.

Speaker Profiles

Dr Nadine HachachHaram

Dr Nadine Hachach-Haram FRCS (Plast), BEM, is the CEO and Founder of Proximie and Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Director of Clinical Innovation and Strategic Partnerships at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. She is also a TED Speaker and a Co-Managing Partner of KHP Ventures, which offers equity investments with healthcare expertise for groundbreaking MedTech and digital startups.

In 2016, the NHS clinical entrepreneur drew on her surgical experiences and her passion for innovation and education, to create Proximie; a global healthtech platform digital connecting surgical operating rooms (ORs) on a mission to save lives by sharing the world’s best clinical practice. Proximie has successfully raised $130 million in total funding. Prestigious investors include Emerson Collective, SoftBank, F-Prime Capital, Questa Capital, Eight Roads, Maverick Ventures, Global Ventures, BECO Capital and Cedar Mundi Ventures. Proximie is now being taught at Harvard Business School, as part of the ‘Transforming Health Care Delivery’ course led by Associate Professor Ariel Dora Stern.

Nadine received the British Empire Medal in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours for her innovative work within the fields of surgery and medicine. She also undertakes a number of roles to help advance surgery, including council member of the Royal College of Surgeons Future of Surgery Commission, council member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), Innovation UK and council member of the Royal Society of Medicine plastic surgery section.

Dr Michael Ebner

Dr Michael Ebner is an entrepreneur and scientist specialising in the development and commercialisation of computational hyperspectral imaging for real-time surgical guidance.

He is a Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellow and the co-founder and CEO of Hypervision Surgical Ltd, a King’s College London spin-out based at the London Institute for Healthcare Engineering. He holds a PhD in medical image computing from University College London and an MSc in applied mathematics from TU Vienna, Austria.

Hypervision Surgical has developed the world’s first certified medical device using HSI for real-time surgical guidance. This pioneering technology combines hyperspectral imaging-enabled “superhuman” vision with AI to uncover previously invisible tissue details, enhancing surgical precision and patient safety. Their first product, recently cleared for open and minimally invasive general surgery in the UK, provides real-time tissue oxygenation insights that may help reduce life-threatening complications in colorectal surgery.

Anna King

Anna King is Commercial Director at Health Innovation Network (South London) and Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit Risk and Compliance Committee for the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.

Anna joined HIN in 2013, and since then her focus has been on building relationships between the NHS and industry. She was instrumental in the founding of DigitalHealth.London, leading the design and delivery of the DigitalHealth.London Accelerator Programme which has supported over 150 early-stage digital health companies over the last 8 years.

Originally qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she advised health and social care clients such as GSK, Roche and Aventis; Anna has previously held a number of senior NHS regional commercial and improvement roles, including Commercial Programme Director at the London Commercial Support Unit.

Pierre Socha

Pierre joined Amadeus in 2012 and is a Partner in the Early Stage Fund. His current focus is on the Health and Bio sectors.

He led their investments in companies such as synthetic biology specialist ConstructiveBio, cell and gene therapy manufacturing platform OriBiotech, protein degradation leader PhoreMost, imaging biomarker specialist Quibim, advanced wound therapy leader Natrox, computer vision platform V7, Parkinson’s therapy developer Charco, and care review platform Doctify. He also oversees organ transplantation leader Organox, cell manipulation platform Sphere Fluidics, whole-genome interpretation platform Congenica, and care pathway optimization leader Lumeon.

Prior to joining Amadeus, Pierre was first an analyst at Natexis in France, before becoming an entrepreneur with PE backed biotech Avesthagen in India where he joined the founding team and helped grow the business over a decade. During his tenure, he became CEO of its Bionutrition division (350 employees) before taking over as Chief Strategy Officer for the group, with research activities spanning from medical nutrition and agri-tech to population genetics.

Pierre holds a MSc in Maths and Econometrics from Aix-Marseille University, France and graduated from executive programs at Stanford, MIT and Harvard.

Mukul Mohanty

Mukul Mohanty is a Senior Partner at Truffle Capital, specialising in driving exits and preparing businesses for future raises. With over 24 years of investment experience, Mukul has extensive expertise in private equity, venture capital, and fundraising strategies.

His deep experience in both buyside and sell-side transactions makes him a critical player in Truffle’s medtech portfolio, advancing strategic partnerships and exits. His career spans Europe, Asia, and the US, where he has led and executed multiple campaigns across closed-end funds, Series A and B, and individual mandates.

Mukul’s strong track record includes building an impressive network of private equity, venture capital, and corporate venture capital groups, alongside leading engagements with institutional investors, family offices, and co-investors.

Mukul is a Chartered Accountant, having earned his qualification from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in New Delhi, India in 2003.
