Scaledown returns!
The planned 157th Scaledown had to be cancelled last Spring, but we now have the go-ahead to return to the King & Queen.
Entry is free, but there will be a collection for performers, who are as follows:
Atsuko Kamura: aka Kamura Obscura, is a Japanese agit-femme vocalist and electronic experimentalist. She is a former member of the seminal avant grade ensemble Frank Chickens, and of Mizutama Shobodan (Polka Dot Fire Brigade), the first Japanese feminist punk band. Her voice-modulated improvisations and eco-surrealist chansons are weaved into a bizarre world of experimental sonics and inventions.)
the closer we are to dying: A creative project for Terry Lane to process emotionally-driven, thought-provoking and intense music. He will be performing a track from a forthcoming release of songs inspired by Willam Blake.
Pete Evans: Always a firm favourite of scaledown central, Pete's unique songs and voice return to tickle your ears
David Herbert: Geniune and skillful songwriting and guitar playing, with warmth and intelligence.
sourmilk: An ongoing exploration the interaction of neurology and the metropolis using improvised electronic soundscapes, modular synthesis and field recordings.
Schroeder/Smith: Bettina Schroeder and James A Smith present the listener with an intriguing cocktail of spoken word and music. The sounds generated by Smith’s guitar illustrate and enhance their prose-poetry narratives. The pair also will introduce new tracks from the forthcoming album ROAD TO HEAVEN by James’ band the BEACH BULLIES with James on guitar and vocals and Schroeder’s electric ukulele.
