S.C. Clean Marina Certification Workshop
About this Event
The S.C. Clean Marina Program is a voluntary certification program that recognizes marinas for helping to create a cleaner marine environment in South Carolina by implementing best practices to protect and improve local water quality. Workshop participants will learn about the program, the steps to certification, and how to get their marinas ready for site visits.
This training class is required for certification and recertification. The workshop will be held at the SCDNR Outdoor Classroom located at 412-418 Fort Johnson Rd, Charleston, SC 29412.
Registration
Registration is required, and the cost is $100. For marinas new to the program, this fee can be applied toward the total cost of SC Clean Marina certification ($250). For marinas already part of the program, the $100 registration fee covers the recertification process.
Payment Process
Payment will be accepted via checks only, payable to the SC Sea Grant Consortium. Mail checks to 287 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401.

SC Clean Marina Guidebook and Checklist Review
Host: Milt Hazel & Stan Jones
Info: A review of the Clean Marina Guidebook, which outlines a suite of best management practices for marinas, and the associated checklist, which provides a framework for marinas to follow to achieve certification. Milt Hazel (Benchmark Marine Services) and Stan Jones (Quarterdeck Marinas) will lead this review.

South Carolina BIG and CVA Grant Opportunities for Marinas
Host: Ben Stone & Shane Thaxton, SCDNR
Info: Ben Stone and Shane Thaxton, representing SCDNR, will walk attendees through the process of obtaining federal Boating Infrastructure Grant (BIG) and Clean Vessel Act (CVA) funding through the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) to improve transient boat docks and waste pumpout facilities.
Manatees & Marinas
Host: Kelly Lambert, SCDNR
Info: An overview of manatee conservation, best practices, and how marinas and SCDNR can work together to protect manatees.
E-permitting Guidance and Demonstration
Host: Kelsey Fogarty, SCDES-BCM
Info: This session includes how to navigate the e-Permitting process, including routing to the new permit, maintenance and repair application, amendment application, points of contact, and other relevant resource information.
O&M Template Update
Host: Josh Gold, SCDES-BCM
Info: Introduction and review of the newly updated Operations and Maintenance (O&M) manual template.
