Chaz & Jess are a Country and Delta Blues duo hailing from the Modesto area. They burst on the scene in 2020 to share their love of early pre-war blues with the community. This duo has been inspired by the likes of Robert Johnson, Son House, Lightning Hopkins and other pioneers of early blues. Chaz and Jess consists of Charlie Wheeler (originally from the UK) on guitar and Jess Zavala on harmonica and vocals. This unique collaboration transcends their audience to the down-home Blues of the Mississippi Delta! Chaz & Jess were nominated for Best Blues band at the Modesto Area Music Awards in 2022 and 2023.
