About this Event
Join The Brink SBDC and the Office of Innovation and Commercialization (OIC) for a hybrid SBIR Info & Advising Session designed to demystify Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) funding.
This workshop is offered through a partnership between The Brink SBDC at the University of San Diego and the Office of Innovation and Commercialization at UC San Diego. Listen to experienced SBIR proposal writers, learn tips and tricks for your first submission, and get answers to your burning questions about the complex world of SBIR grants. Learn about the different parts of a proposal, how to navigate different agencies to maximize your funding, and eligibility requirements. The session is ideal for researchers, faculty, and entrepreneurs who have started—or are considering starting—an innovative company. No prior SBIR experience is required.
Attendees Will:
• Follow live walkthroughs for finding new funding opportunities
• Understand the legal requirements to receive an SBIR
• Structure their research for SBIR program requirements

• Corporate formation and legal considerations
• Proposal structure, key sections, and pre-submission strategy
Location and Navigation Information:
The event will be hosted both onsite at the UC San Diego Design and Innovation Building and virtually via Zoom. Attendees will receive emails with further details for attending via Zoom.
The Basement is located on the first floor (room 151) of the Design and Innovation Building (DIB). The entrances are located across from the Structural Materials and Engineering building or next to the UC San Diego Central Campus Station bus and trolley stop.
The easiest way to get to the DIB is by taking the MTS trolley UC San Diego Blue Line and getting off at the UC San Diego Central Campus stop. The trolley stop is a short 1 minute walk to the DIB.
Public transportation is highly recommended as parking is limited on campus. If you plan to drive to campus, please give yourself plenty of time. You can download the ParkMobile app to pay for your space digitally once you find a spot.
