The Troy Historic Preservation Alliance, in partnership with The Troy Historical Society, invites the public to a free program on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center. The program, "Saving History: The Road to Restoring the Overfield Tavern," will be presented by M. Chris Manning, the historical society's executive director and vice president of THPA, following a short business meeting at 7 pm. Light food will be served.Manning will share many of the remarkable discoveries from last fall's archaeology dig, which drew the attention of national publications such as Smithsonian Magazine. She will reveal the answers to several mysteries surrounding the tavern that might never have been solved, were it not for opportunities created by a devastating fire at the museum in December 2024. Manning also will share an update on plans to begin restoration later this year of Ohio's oldest log tavern listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Please join us!
