📅 Saturday, October 10th
🕛 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM CT
Together, Dan and Julie bring decades of experience as teachers, DJs, competitors, organizers, and passionate students of blues dance. Throughout the day, we’ll explore musicality, partnership, creativity, rhythm, and connection through three engaging classes:
🩵 Redirections & Decisions: We’ll use a fun sequence, broken into modular pieces, to explore redirections and momentum, with decision points that let followers change the flow and express themselves.
💙 Composing in Rhythm: We’ll explore how rhythms feel against a song, how we can change accents, and how we can choose to arrange them to create a musical and rhythmically rich dance.
🩵 How to Have a Good Dance with Anyone
Composing in Rhythm:
How to have a good dance with anyone: When your partner hears a song very differently, or you have different preferences or skills, how do you bridge that gap? In this class, we’ll offer ways to adapt your connection and highlight your partnership’s strengths so you can have a good dance with anyone, without sacrificing yourself.
Each class will run approximately 80 minutes.
And when the workshops end, the dancing continues! Join us that evening for Bluetopia featuring live music from Young Rell. 🎶
Registration and full details coming soon. Save the date! 💙
