If you care about the places that make our communities special, having a meaningful say in the decisions that affect them, and leaving something worth inheriting, this rally is for you.
Across Brisbane and South East Queensland, communities are standing up for what matters to them.
🌳 For Victoria Park Barrambin
🖤❤️💛 For cultural heritage and connection to Country
🏥 For healthcare and the communities that depend on it
🐨 For Ormiston's koala habitat and other wildlife under threat
🚶🏾♂️ For the future of Brisbane's riverfront and public land, including the Visy site
🌊 For Redlands and Fitzroy rowing communities to have the right projects in the right places
🥾 For places like Mount Coot-tha and the natural spaces we value
💰 For responsible development and public spending, without selling off public land
📣 For the right of communities to be genuinely heard and to have a say
➕ many more that are fighting for a better future!
These might look like different fights, but there's a common thread.
Too often, communities are asked to accept the loss of something valuable today in exchange for promises of tomorrow.
We believe we can do better, and it's worth the effort to push for better.
We can build. We can grow. We can host the Olympics. We can create jobs and housing.
But progress shouldn't mean sacrificing the things that already make our communities great. And decisions about our future shouldn't be made without a meaningful voice from the people who live here.
That's why community groups from across Brisbane and South East Queensland are coming together to share our stories, support one another, celebrate what we're protecting and show that there are better ways forward.
And... We're going to have some fun doing it! 🎨🦘🎶
Bring your banners, puppets, costumes, music, art, clever signs or anything else that brings your cause to life.
Most importantly though, come as you are. Never been to a rally before? Just bring yourself. Better yet, bring a friend.
It's peaceful, family-friendly and everyone is welcome.
