About this Event
A festival of three popular genres of Indian classical, semi-classical, extremely romantic, heart-piercing music interpreted through romantic poetry is returning to London, for the 8th year this year in collaboration with Keats House, London.
A festival of three important genres of Indian semi-classical music that Saudha has been hosting since 2015.
As part of celebrating the bicentenary of Victor Hugo’s seminal work, Odes et Ballades, this session aims to re-explore a selection of Hugo's Odes and Ballads through John Keats' poetry of similar genre, merging seamlessly with a magical performance of complementing hypnotically romantic genre of Indian classical & semi-classical music - Ghazal, Thumri and Kheyal and re-create a new meaning for each art form.
Curated by T M Ahmed Kaysher, the festival actually offers a fresh new and rare presentations of Ghazal Thumri and Kheyal - three visceral genres of Indian classical & semi-classical music with complementing, re-interpretative verses of poetry from global literature.
The session at the iconic Keats House Museum (The place itself is tourist attraction where poet John Keats lived significantly and creatively important years of his life) is featuring a few leading Indian classical musicians, spoken-word artists from different traditions.
