Stop by for another Saturdays on the Porch event!
André Benito Mountain is an activist and motivational speaker who is best known for his work with equity and integrating the arts and culture into public education. He challenges educators and leaders to reimagine schools as places that foster creativity in teachers and scholars. He challenges districts to deconstruct and redesign institutions in ways that better serve communities.
From his work in 2020 with "Principals Don't Walk on Water: They Walk Through It" to his most recent release, "Virtually Lost: Essays on Education in a Global Pandemic," André does the important work of grappling with the ever evolving institution of public education. From the nuances of the Covid-19 pandemic to the intersections of education, race, and socio-economic status-- Mountain covers a wide variety of relevant topics to today's public education system & how to make it better.
Please don't forget that we continue to require masks inside the store, so be sure to arrive prepared! Always respect other guests' space as well so we may all have an enjoyable and safe experience.
