2023 Domaine Dupeuble Beaujolais Blanc $23.94
Are you a fan of white Burgundy and want to avoid the price tag that comes with it? Look no further! This is the solution you've been waiting for. Beaujolais blanc is less known than Beaujolais rouge, but offers a great value and is composed entirely of...chardonnay! Domaine Dupeuble has been operating almost continuously since 1512. They adhere to a natural winemaking philosophy, farming without chemicals and fermenting without the addition of SO2.
2024 Domaine de la Cadette Beaujolais Nouveau $27.94
Beaujolais nouveau rose to popularity in the 1970's and 1980's and has become associated with Thanksgiving wine due to its release on the third Thursday of November. Harvest takes place just weeks before its release, therefore, the style is notoriously fruity and fresh. Since gamay is a thin skinned grape, it pairs perfectly with lean meat, such as turkey, and is even more enhanced by a dollop of cranberry sauce to compliment the fruity flavor profile. Domaine de la Cadette is an organic producer and the grapes are sourced right across from Cote de Brouilly.
2023 Domaine Chignard Fleurie les Moriers $27.94
Fleurie translates to "flower" in French, which perfectly describes wines from this village. The style is light, elegant and floral produced on pink granite soil. The Les Moriers vineyard is one of the best sites in Fleurie. It sits close to Fleurie's neighbor, Moulin-a-Vent, notorious for full bodied renditions of Beaujolais. Therefore, the style sits perfectly in the middle of these two neighbors producing a wine with the best of both villages. Domaine Chignard is a top producer in Fleurie and is currently on the 5th generation of the family. They take a minimalist approach and let the land speak for itself.
2021 Chateau Thivin Côte de Brouilly Cuvee Zaccharie $69.94
Chateau Thivin was built in the 15th century, making it the oldest winery in the Cote de Brouilly. It is the benchmark producer, located on Mont Brouilly, an extinct volcano that reaches high in elevation. The grapes are planted on slopes of 48% grade and they take tremendous care to avoid erosion and preserve the integrity of the soil. The Cuvee Zaccharie is a rare bottling named for the ancestor who purchased the winery in 1877. It is a blend of two of the best vineyard sites from old vines and aged in Burgundy barrels.
2022 Jean Foillard Morgon Côte de Py $59.94
Jean Foillard is one of the famed "Gang of Four", a group of Kermit Lynch producers in Beaujolais dedicated to natural winemaking, biodynamic vitivulture and quality standards. They adhere to "old practices of viticulture and vinification", never using herbicides or pesticides and using minimal to no sulphur. They also sort meticulously to ensure only the best grapes are being used. Most of Foillard's vineyards are located in the Côte de Py, the most highly regarded area in Morgon, located on a slope with soil rich in manganese. Morgon styles of Beaujolais are more structured and full bodied with high complexity.
2019 Marcel Lapierre Morgon Cuvee MMXIX magnum $109.94
Marcel Lapiere is yet another member of the "Gang of Four". Marcel took over from his father in 1973 and currently his children have been passed the baton. The grapes are picked as late as possible, allowing the grapes to ripen until the last second. The Cuvée MMXIX is a selection of the oldest vines from Morgon which are over 100 years old, and include parcels from the Côte de Py.
