Have you always wanted to learn how to sew your own clothing? In this beginner-friendly series, you'll learn the fundamentals of garment sewing while creating a custom garment from start to finish.

Over four sessions, you'll learn how to use a sewing machine, read a commercial sewing pattern, cut fabric, sew garment pieces together, and make simple fit adjustments so your finished garment fits your body comfortably and confidently.

Slow Stitch Detroit will select a beginner-friendly pattern for the class. Participants will purchase the class pattern, fabric, and notions before the first session. We provide all sewing machines, tools, and sewing supplies.

Classes are taught by professional designers and artists from the Slow Stitch Detroit residency program, offering a unique opportunity to learn directly from experienced garment makers.
