Saturday Morning Tryouts is an event for children who are entering Kindergarten through 7th grade in the fall of 2021. We know your time is limited! This event provides a time for your keiki to try 2 different activities and learn, or develop, their skills. This summer we will be offering basketball, cheerleading, martial arts, visual art, & theater as our activity rotations. Space is limited. Keiki will be able to rank these activities according to their interest. Each child will be able to explore their top 2 activities, based on availability. Children will be divided into two groups: older keiki and younger keiki.We are excited to have expert volunteers helping us with our tryout event! Basketball will be taught by members of the HPU men's basketball team. Cheerleading will be taught by college and high school cheerleaders. Martial arts will be taught by a professor and assistant instructor in Kempo. Our visual arts rotation is being planned by a set designer. Theater will be taught by a university theater scholar. Your kids won't want to miss this morning of fun & learning.
Our morning schedule will include rotations at your child's 2 activities, a Bible story, Bible verse memory, water breaks, & a "show off" time. Families are invited to join us for a 11:45 AM "show off" time, where keiki will share what they have learned. Our character growth focus for this event is trust. Trying new things can be scary! We will talk about growing in trust in each of our activity rotations. Our Bible focus will help us remember that we can trust God, even when things are scary.
A snack will be provided. Children are to bring their own water bottle & face mask. Face masks will be worn when indoors.
University Avenue Baptist Church is offering Saturday Morning Tryouts free of charge. However, we do ask families only register for the event if they are committed to participate on Saturday, July 10.
