About the Show
Join us for music, dance, and storytelling that celebrates the culture and history of Africa and African Americans in the diaspora! Taratibu Youth Association (TYA) is a non-profit, young people’s performing arts program that creates transformative experiences through the performing arts for African American youth and young adults. Come and experience a performance of South African Gumboot dance, song, a Taratibu Pan African Drill, and spoken word, as these young artists tell stories of survival and empowerment.

Time and Place
Performances will take place on Saturday, February 8th at 9:30am and 11am in the Helen Hayes Gallery of The National Theatre located at 1321 Pennsylvania Ave NW, Washington, DC 20004.

Tickets and Donations
Please reserve tickets to the 9:30 AM or 11 AM performance. Registration is FREE but donations are welcome. In the event of a sellout, please feel free to join the waitlist; we also accept walk-ups, pending the availability of space.

Audience
This performance is ideal for agest 3-6, but everyone is welcome!

Accessibility
This performance will be ASL-interpreted. The space is wheelchair accessible.

About the Artists
Taratibu Youth Association (TYA), a non-profit, young people's performing arts program, uses the arts to teach African American youth and young adults their history and culture. Their mission is to provide a transformative experience, through the performing arts. They support that mission through training in dance, voice, spoken word, leadership, health & wellness, the Culture Matter Scholarship and the International Cultural and Educational Exchange program. In their 17 years of existence, they are blessed to have traveled to Ghana, Togo, Benin, Tanzania, South Africa, Haiti, St. Croix, Senegal, Bahia, Brazil, Zimbabwe, and Zambia.
