Join Our Wellness-Inspired Belly Dance Classes
Build core strength as you execute basic belly dance steps and improve your rhythm and coordination.
Teach your body to move freely and with confidence. It's a bottom-up approach to personal transformation teaching the joy of embodying carefree self love and bold expression.
9:30am Technique Class: get a break down of the steps taught in choreography class. Here you will have the opportunity to fine tune your coordination, precision and fluidity of movement. This class will help you increase your overall strength and flexibility with time devoted to muscle conditioning and yoga in addition to belly dance technique.
10:30am Choreography Class: a space for you to find your personal style and work on confidently executing your expressions. This class includes a heart-pumping warm up an overview of the choreography section of the day followed by drilling and repeating.
11:30am Specialty Cane Choreography: This fall's specialty choreography is a cheeky saidi-inspired dance done with a cane. Heavy on rhythm, earthy movements, this folk style is lots of fun!

What should I wear to class?
Comfortable fitness wear that is fitted to the body. It helps to be able to see your hips in the mirror!
How do I find the studio?
House of Eights is at the corner of Bell Road and Sackville Street across from Garrison grounds. There is a paid parking lot across the street open to the public.
What footwear is appropriate for belly dance class?
Bare feet socks dance slippers and indoor fitness sneakers are all good options.
I've never taken a dance class before - is this for me?
Beginner belly dance is fun as well as challenging - I'm here to teach you new ways to move and be in your body. Leave preconceived ideas at the door and let yourself be vulnerable with me - I promise it's worth it!!
Is there anything I need to bring with me?
Bring a bottle of water and a sash or belt to tie around your hips.
What are your background and credentials?
Jill is a Registered Nurse who has worked in women's perinatal health newborn care and community health education. Jill has been training in Belly Dance since 2011 and teaching since 2015. Jill is a Reiki master. All of the above are woven together to create her unique class format and teaching style.
