I have setup a new group called 'Paddle boarding in Fort Lauderdale with James'. This is the first event in the group. Even if you are not coming this time PLEASE JOIN the group if you want to be on future paddling invite lists.Low tide Saturday late afternoon so perfect timing for an afternoon paddle to the Sandbar. The distance is a beginner level paddle. Weather forecast says Saturday will be sunny.
As regulars know I have a I have around 20 paddle boards, 3 double kayaks and 1 single kayak. I have a few new paddle boards so if you would like to try one of the fast skinny boards come join the fun. Also have some larger stable boards for larger people. So something for everyone.
Let me know if you are coming or bringing a (+1) so I can get the right number of floating things ready.
Meet at my house at 2:00. So we get on the water and to the
sandbar well before low tide. We will leave on the outgoing tide and hang out on the sandbar. Returning later on the rising tide.
The distance is a beginner level paddle. We spend more time floating around snacking and drinking at the sandbar than actually paddling there and back. Bring drinks and snacks. Snacks to share are always a hit.

ππ«π’π§π :
- Hat or sun visor. Needed to keep the sun out of your eyes. If we get a summer afternoon shower a cap with a brim will help keep the rain out of your eyes. Nobody is so cool they don't need a cap (Jennifer).
- Shoes or flip flops for getting from the Street and onto my dock. Water shoes - Teva type sandals are preferable.
- Swimsuit, be brave and bold. (As usual I will be wearing a thong)
- Suntan lotion.
- If you bringing a phone make sure it is waterproofed or waterproof pouch and on lanyard. (Michelle)
- Bring what you want to drink, but NO glass bottles. I will say that again for the people in the back NO GLASS.
- Most people like to bring a few snacks to eat and share while we chill at the sandbar. Keep snacks waterproof zip-lock or a dry bag. (I have extra dry bags.) I also have a few extra small soft sided work/lunch size soft coolers if you need one.
- On most Saturdays you can buy food from one of the the floating houseboats - food trucks. (Normally there on sunny weekends but not always so don't count on it.)
- Do NOT bring your entire wallet, leave that locked in the car. If you want to buy something from the floating food truck just put your cash or card in a ziplock. You may need ID if you want adult popsicles from the icecream boat.
- You can leave car keys and/or a bag of valuables in my house.
- Don't bring expensive Gucci sunglass and if wearing sunglasses have safety string or ask me for one. (Giordan)(Lucy).
- Kids, teens and dogs are welcome. I have a couple of smaller paddle boards that are tween/teen specific. They can use paddle boards or kayaks. Dogs should have their own lifejacket.
- Wear a swimsuit and leave a dry set of clothes in your car. Bring a towel but keep that in your car for drying off after we return.
We normally spend a couple of hours chilling at the sandbar. If you are more energetic and don't want to just hangout you can take off and paddle over to the second sandbar or explore the local canals when others are chilling.
- Not sure exactly how long we will hang at the sandbar, depends on how much fun we are having. Depending on who wants to leave early or stay longer. We often paddle back in a couple of different groups.
- Wear what you want, but make sure you are comfortable swimming in it. As usual I won't be wearing much. The less you wear the better your overall tan, and the more offers of free drinks you get from the boaters. I provide drinks for those brave enough to wear thong swimsuits. π
I have plenty of paddle boards and kayaks so you probably don't need to bring yours. If you want to use own paddle board or kayak you probably want to launch at Victoria Park where getting from the street to the water is simpler. We can meetup on the water.
Free parking on my street. You don't need to park in front of my house - park anywhere on Fiesta Way where there is lawn. Just don't block a neighbors driveway, but parking in front of their grass is fine.
This is a beginner level paddle that we can do with a larger group. If drifting along with knobs is not your thing and/or you want something more challenging, once we are at the Sandbar I may well take off and go for a longer paddle before returning to the Sandbar to shepard everyone home.
If you need to return early, because you are board or need to rush off to other adventures you can come back to my house early. You don't have to wait for the group.
You got this invite because you are one of my Facebook friends. If you live too far away for this sort of Fort Lauderdale shenanigans, or never go out doors when the sun is up, or for any other reason don't want invites to future paddle events message me and let me know and I will take you off the paddle board invite list for next time.
Swimsuit, sunscreen, hat, drinks, snacks, and a positive attitude!
