Satanic Panic: An Immersive Hallowe'en Party
About this Event
The 1980's gave rise to a collective hysteria known as the Satanic Panic. The rapid social changes and shifting family structures of the decade sparked a wave of anxiety, and people found comfort in a convenient scapegoat- the Devil. Suddenly, all of our social woes could be conveinetly blamed on the existence of Satanic Cults- where members allegedly engaged in child abuse, ritual sacrifice, and worshipped the Devil. We found secret messages in heavy metal music, persecuted teenagers who wore black, and blamed Dungeons and Dragons for recruiting children to the dark side.
On October 31st, we invite you to come play inside an immersive landscape curated to mimic this cultural moment. Make your way through a living story-scape that represents the visual and social ambience of the Satanic Panic- interact with cult members, spill your guts at the confession booth, marvel up close at the paradox of the neon-tinted panorama of 1980s suburbia contrasted with the seedy, so-called-devil-worshipping underground.
We are partying, we are “worshipping Satan,” we are capturing a moment in time in its full vibrancy.
Propaganda, paranoia, exploitation. We’ve got it all. Come join us 🩸
