SAT Bootcamp Day (May 30): Understand Rhetorical Patterns (6:00PM - 7:00PM)
Schedule
Sat May 30 2026 at 06:00 pm to 07:00 pm
UTC-04:00Location
Arlington VA - Virtual Event | Arlington, VA
About this Event
This workshop helps students stop approaching SAT Reading & Writing questions randomly and instead learn how to use the question itself to guide their thinking before even reading the answer choices.
Students will learn how to recognize what a question is actually asking the sentence or passage to accomplish — whether it’s introducing, clarifying, emphasizing, illustrating, summarizing, explaining, or connecting ideas.
Students will learn how to:
- identify the rhetorical function the question is asking for
- predict what a correct answer should generally accomplish
- eliminate answers that conflict with the question’s purpose or structure
- approach SAT Reading & Writing questions more strategically and efficiently
We’ll work through SAT-style examples while practicing how to analyze question wording, recognize rhetorical patterns, and eliminate poor answers before fully evaluating every option.
Why This Matters
Many SAT Reading & Writing questions become significantly easier when students understand the role the sentence is supposed to play within the passage. Learning to identify rhetorical purpose helps students avoid trap answers, improve efficiency, and make stronger predictions while reading.
