SASSMOUTH | Alternate Reality

It didn't take long to realize how much we missed our friends last year, both near and far. For the second iteration of AR we have pulled guests from the three states that arguably started it all; Chicago, Detroit, and New York City. Located in Chicago, Sassmouth, aka Sam Kern, has been a pillar in the Colorado underground throughout the years, not only playing our events but also sparking friendships on and off the dance floor here in Denver. Sam is one of those dj's that you see regularly on the dance floor, showing her appreciation to the rave. We love that she calls Denver her, "home away from home" and can't wait to see her doing what she loves most.

John Overfiend, a nomad since birth, spent much of his younger years moving throughout New England. Eventually breaking away from the east coast he found himself living in the mid western city of Detroit. Since starting his dance floor career shortly after moving to The Motor City in 2001, John has had his nose to the grindstone through his love of playing records and passion producing in the studio. "Tripping in Chile" is a timeless example of Johns talents and earned a remix by a Denver favorite, Maetrik. Needless to say, we are in for a treat with this Denver debut.

Taylor Bratches is a former Mile High dancer turned NYC dj and producer who has found herself center stage both in basements in her home state as well as touring across the country with Dirtybird. She seeks to explore and transmit an emotional experience through sound. A lifelong poet and dancer, her relationship to rhythm is intimate and ever-evolving. In her sets, she aims to fuse genres, blending breakbeat, jungle, acid, electro, IDM and leftfield techno with more polyrhythmic and arhythmic varieties of dance music. Her approach to dancing and DJing is a meditative one, and she aims to move people physically and spiritually, creating an experience for the mover that is both embodied and transcendent, terrestrial and extraterrestrial. She is affiliated with the Chicago-based collective Walking and Falling, a mentorship program created by Smartbar residents for female-identifying and nonbinary DJs.

Alternate Reality is a new daytime series that will be focussed on engaging with the underground dancers here in Denver. You can expect the same level of production and effort that we put into our after parties with a note of DIY community that has been at the foundation of Nocturnal since day one. We invite you to come dance with us under the Colorado sun with some of the finest local selectors we can think of.

The Denver community is a tight knit group of lovely dj's, dancers, and producers so we have partnered with groups that focus on lifting up the already existing, thriving scene. COscilator is a promotor that, at it's core, has been focussed on lifting up the Denver community by supporting a myriad of events and producers, not just their own. Also on deck is Hitman Sound systems supplying a hybrid Void/Funktion1 rig that many of you have heard by this point. We couldn't be more excited to invite them back to our fine city for a worthy daytime rave. Finally, in steps our venue, Mile High Spirits, who has been welcoming a swath of communities adjacent to our own into their four walls - although this time we will be dancing outside their walls and on the patio.
