Sashiko Workshop - Design & Sashiko Your Shoes!
About this Event
Beginner/Beginner Advanced – No experience needed. We will have a range of projects available based on your skill level.
Ready to have some fun with your wardrobe? Design and repair your sneakers with Sashiko! Inspired by the Sashiko Gals, learn how to mend a hole-y sneaker, reinvigorate your laces with Sashiko, and add a pop of color to your favorite pair of shoes. Taught by Melissa Wu.
All materials will be provided but please bring your own pair of WASHED shoes to mend.
We’ll cover:
- An overview of Sashiko
- Safety measures in shoe mending
- Creating Sashiko inspired designs
- Adding Sashiko to shoelaces
- In studio practice
Materials Provided:
- 1 Sashiko Shoe Mending Kit (for you to keep!)
- All tools and fabric will be available to borrow
What to bring:
- 1 pair of clean shoes (breathable or thin leathers work best)
