Sarasota School: A Living Legacy- Premiere and Conversation with Max Strang

The pilot episode features the award-winning Van der Vlugt Residence by STRANG, the renowned Miami-based design firm led by Max Strang, FAIA. The film offers an intimate look at how Strang successfully applies the Sarasota School’s principles to modern climate challenges. Elevated ten feet for resiliency against sea-level rise, this home blends sculptural board-formed concrete with passive cooling to harmonize artful design with its coastal environment. Its striking curvature and floor-to-ceiling glass create a seamless, climate-responsive connection between the sophisticated interior and the waterfront landscape.

Following the screening, attendees will enjoy an in-depth conversation between Max Strang, FAIA, and Architecture Sarasota President Marty Hylton.
