The second recital of the season will be presented by Sarah Richards, soprano and Janet Stivanson, piano. This virtuoso program will be live streamed from Rodef Shalom's Levy Hall on the day of the performance. Video of this performance will remain available on the Tuesday Musical Club YouTube Channel for future viewing.
Sarah Richards is a Pittsburgh-based soprano who has performed opera roles including Monica in Menotti’s The Medium in SERIO Opera Company, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni at International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte at OpernFest Prague/Smetana Hall, and Drusilla/Virtù in Claudio Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea at Miami Beach Classical Music Festival. She has recently performed the role of Un Bergère in Brooklyn Telemann Chamber Society’s film production of Rameau’s Phèdre: Hippolyte et Aricie set to release in 2025 and Young Artist at Duke Chapel under the direction of Dr. Philip Cave, as well as the soprano soloist in Fauré’s Requiem in D Minor, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, and Schubert’s Mass in G as the soprano section leader and member of the Professional Vocal Core of the Pittsburgh Oratory of St. Philip Neri.
As an active recitalist, Sarah has performed on several concert series including Bruton Parish Candlelight Concerts, Ingomar United Methodist Church, St. Vincent College Concert Series, and Concert Society of Coraopolis. Ms. Richards’ other performance work includes the OperAffinity Concerto Lirica Gala Concert and Virginia Ryan art exhibition in Todi, Italy as well as performing newly composed works and sacred Baroque music as one of the founding members of the vocal trio Halcyon Voices and in a series with Vermont Chamber Artists. Ms. Richards has received a Master’s in Early Music Voice from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and a Bachelor’s in Vocal Performance from West Virginia University.
