P&T Knitwear is pleased to welcome Sara Jaffe to celebrate and discuss her new book ; a short story collection that explores the textures and tensions of contemporary life, pressing on our ambivalence, how we belong to but differ from the world around us.
Sara will be joined in conversation by Lynne Tillman, author of . Along with a discussion and audience Q&A, Sara will also sign copies of her book.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Sara Jaffe is a writer, educator, and musician living in Portland, OR. Hurricane Envy is her second book. Dryland, a novel, was published by Tin House Books and Cipher Press (UK ). Her short fiction, essays, and criticism have appeared in publications including Joyland, Fence, BOMB, NOON, and Maggot Brain. She co-edited The Art of Touring (Yeti, 2009), an anthology of writing and visual art by musicians drawing on her experience as guitarist for post-punk band Erase Errata. She is a proudly anti-Zionist Jew working for Palestinian liberation.
ABOUT THE MODERATOR
Lynne Tillman’s novels include Haunted Houses; No Lease on Life, a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award in Fiction; American Genius, A Comedy, and Men and Apparitions, nominated for a Republic of Consciousness Prize (UK, 2021). Her nonfiction includes The Velvet Years: Warhol’s Factory 1965–67, photographs by Stephen Shore; What Would Lynne Tillman Do?, a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award in Criticism, and Mothercare, a book-length essay on care-giving her mother. Her essays and stories are regularly published in art catalogs, monologues, art magazines, and artists. Tillman has been a MacDowell Fellow many time; has received a Guggenheim Fellowship; a Creative Capital/Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant, and was awarded the Katherine Anne Porter Prize for Contributions to Literature by the American Academy of Arts and Letters. Her most recent books are THRILLED TO DEATH, selected stories, and THE MYSTERY OF PERCEPTION, a book-length conversation with Taylor Lewandowski. In spring 2026, PAYING ATTENTION, a collection of her essays on art and culture will be published by David Zwirner Books.
