Plazadrome and Ballyhoo Motion Pictures present: A screening and book signing! We'll be screening SANTA CLAUS (aka SANTA CLAUS VS THE DEVIL) (1959) after celebrating the release of a new book exploring the history of Christmas horror movies!
We will be joined by special guest Matt DuPee, author of the new book from Mcfarland Press, A Scary Little Christmas: A History of Yuletide Horror Films, 1972–2020. Get there early, because Matt will be on hand before the screening to sign and sell copies of his book.

We’ll also have an introduction to the film by Daniel Griffith of Ballyhoo Pictures, an expert on SANTA CLAUS, who voiced the commentary track on the Blu-ray release of this extremely strange film.

FILM SYNOPSIS

Who is trying to stop Santa from delivering presents? Why, it’s LUCIFER, naturally!

Will his faithful elves help save Christmas? Wrong movie! Kidnapped children from around the world are Santa’s little helpers!

Do the miserable children actually help? Not really! They’re being forced to sing poorly to accompany Santa on his computer/organ!

Who can Santa rely on to help stop Satan and get his gifts delivered? Missus Claus has apparently split with the elves. But if you guessed “Merlin the Wizard,” you’re either insane or have seen this one before. Merlin runs an on-premises drug lab.

SANTA CLAUS is an absolute fever dream disguised as kiddie matinee fare. Here’s a universe in which Satan is the natural enemy of Santa and Jesus is nowhere to be found. If the Devil can persuade children to be naughty, they won’t get Christmas gifts and Santa’s whole business model collapses! Raising the stakes, Santa’s memory is failing, Merlin the Wizard’s is worse, and Satan is comically bad at his job. Luckily, Santa’s workshop is a high-tech surveillance compound securely ensconced in a castle… on *another planet*.
