About this Event
Join us for Sankofa Saturday, a vibrant and educational experience for youth ages 7–14 to explore the richness of West African culture! Rooted in the powerful proverb, “You don’t know where you’re going until you know where you’ve been,” this event is designed to instill cultural pride and a deeper sense of identity through learning and connection.
Special Guest Speaker:
We’re honored to welcome Alhasan Alex Darboe, a native of Gunjur, Gambia, CEO of Alex A. Darboe Properties, and a talented actor. He will share stories, traditions, and personal experiences that highlight the beauty and depth of West African heritage.
Activities Include:
- Hands-on Adinkra symbol crafts
- Lessons in West African history and culture
- Learn a few words in a native African language
Let’s empower our youth with the knowledge of their roots, pride in their heritage, and the tools to carry their culture forward.
