Welcome to Sankofa Day!

Come join us at Trafalgar Square for a day filled with celebration, culture, and community. Sankofa Day ~ the People's Memorial is a special event that honours our past, celebrates our present, and looks towards our future.

Sankofa Day is an annual memorial to remember and honour the victims of the Transatlantic Human Trafficking and Enslavement Period, celebrate the beginning of the Haitian Revolution and mark UNESCO’s International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition.

This in-person event will feature spoken word artists, performers, a live panel discussion, speakers including, Kelechi Okafor, Dr Kehinde Andrews and Joris Lechêne, and our Sankofa 'pop-up' Museum. It's a day to connect with others, embrace heritage, and create lasting memories. Don't miss out on this unforgettable experience!
