San Francisco Halloween Pub Crawl: Crawloween

San Francisco has never needed much encouragement to put on a costume. On Halloween 2026, the city will have an especially big reason. Crawloween returns on Saturday, October 31 for the largest day of the San Francisco Halloween Pub Crawl, bringing an expected crowd of more than 20,000 people to over 50 bars from 2PM to 10PM.

The event stretches across the Marina, Russian Hill, Polk Gulch, Union Square and other San Francisco neighborhoods. That scale gives Crawloween a different feeling from a one-room Halloween party. Costumed groups fill sidewalks, buses and neighborhood bars as they make their way from one stop to the next. Every part of the route has its own personality, and no two groups need to follow the same plan.

Participants can check in at Mayes Oyster House, Rick & Roxy’s or Union Street Ale House, with more starting locations to be announced. At check-in, guests receive the materials they need to take part in the crawl. From there, the list of possible stops is extensive. It includes laid-back neighborhood bars, large dance venues, restaurants, themed locations and well-known San Francisco nightlife spots.

Discounted drink specials will be available throughout the event at participating bars. Pub crawl admission also includes free entry at participating locations, helping guests avoid paying a separate cover at every stop. The free Party Bus is scheduled to connect key areas of the route and gives participants a practical way to visit more neighborhoods during the day.

The event’s biggest visual attraction is the crowd itself. With thousands of people dressed for Halloween, Crawloween becomes part pub crawl and part moving costume party. Guests can compete in the Costume Contest or simply enjoy watching the outfits pass by. The Find the Gnome Contest, party favors and entertainment at participating bars add even more to the experience.

For groups, the event offers an easy plan for Halloween. There is no need to choose a single bar and hope everyone likes it. Friends can start together, split up for different stops and meet again later on the route. The 2PM start also leaves plenty of time to check in, grab food, visit several bars and enjoy the busiest hours after dark.

The October 31 crawl is part of a four-day series with additional events on October 24, October 30 and November 1. Still, Saturday is expected to draw the largest crowd. Crawloween attracted over 25,000 participants in 2025 and broke the world record for the World’s Largest Pub Crawl. In 2026, the main Halloween event will build on that record with more than 50 participating locations and one of the biggest costumed celebrations San Francisco has seen.
