ADMISSION: Free
WHAT TO EXPECT:
2026 marks a historic milestone for San Francisco's Fourth of July: the fireworks will be launched from the Golden Gate Bridge itself — only the third time this has happened in almost 100 years. This makes the SF fireworks a true bucket-list experience for America's 250th birthday celebration. The free show starts around 9:30 PM and is best seen from the northern waterfront.
BEST VIEWING SPOTS:
• Crissy Field — prime spot directly facing the bridge
• Marina Green — wide open lawn with full bridge view
• Pier 39 waterfront — iconic SF backdrop
• Northern Embarcadero
• Private bay cruises (book via Eventbrite — sell out weeks ahead)
IMPORTANT NOTICES:
• The Golden Gate Bridge will be fully CLOSED to cars from before 9:30 PM until after the show
• East bridge sidewalk closed to pedestrians/cyclists starting morning of July 3
• AVOID: Ferry Building, Embarcadero waterfront south (no bridge view), Ocean Beach
• Expect major road delays before the bridge reopens after the show
TIPS:
• Take BART, Muni, or ferry — do NOT drive near the Golden Gate on July 4
• Crissy Field and Marina Green fill up fast — arrive by 7 PM
• Bring warm layers and a blanket — SF summer nights are cold
