The San Diego Sings festival is back, featuring fifteen dynamic San Diego and Tijuana-based choirs, performed at The Conrad on Saturday the 6th April.

This unique biannual event, organized by the Choral Consortium of San Diego, will feature three concerts throughout the day. Each concert will include five different choirs performing a range of music both individually and together in the stunning acoustics of the Baker-Baum Concert Hall.

Choirs taking part include: The San Diego Children’s Choir, San Diego Festival Chorus, San Diego Chinese Choral Society, Promatora de las Bellas Artes, San Diego Women’s Chorus, Stellarum, San Diego Chorus and San Diego Gay Men’s Choir, among others.
Tickets start at $23 for individual concerts or $59 for the whole day.

“We’re delighted that San Diego Sings is returning to The Conrad this year featuring no less than 15 incredible choirs,” said Arian Khaefi, Vice President of the Choral Consortium of San Diego. “This incredible festival not only showcases the stunning breadth of choral talent we have in San Diego, but celebrates the power of the human voice and the unity that comes from singing together. We invite everyone, whether choral aficionados or people wanting to start this interest in choral music, to join us and be part of this wonderful celebration.”

Founded in 2010, the Choral Consortium of San Diego represents over 80 members choirs that operate in San Diego County, by sharing resources, promoting each other’s concerts, and developing community-wide programs to highlight the many opportunities to sing in choirs. The Consortium’s mission as 501(c)(3) non-profit is to bring the joy of choral singing to everyone through collaboration, stewardship, and education programs that develop and expand appreciation of choral music, and foster opportunities for greater equity, access and inclusion.

The Bishop's Singers
The Bishop’s Singers is composed of students attending The Bishop’s School in La Jolla, CA. The Singers perform music of a variety of styles for School events and festivals across San Diego and the country. Under the direction of Dr. Christine Micu, they have performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall, Pearl Harbor, and Kawaiaha’o Church in Honolulu, HI, and have received gold and superior ratings at choral festivals in New York and California. The Bishop’s School is an all-gender, independent day school, founded in 1909 serving 800 students in grades 6-12.

Christian Children's Chorus – Belles
The Christian Children's Chorus was founded by Nancy Shirley, director, in 2014 for the purpose of rehearsing and performing quality Christian music from all eras and genres to perhaps help fill the lack of choral music in our schools and churches. Four age groups are included under the title Christian Children's Chorus: The Cherubs, K-3rd grades, Carolers, 4th-7th grades, the Belles, teen girls, and an Adult Choir. Although some secular music is performed, the choirs are dedicated to singing the best of Christian choral music suitable for their ages and abilities. Musicianship and music theory is taught as the music is rehearsed. The organization is not affiliated with any local church and is open to all.

Coro del Centro de Artes Musicales/Sistema Estatal de Música
At the Baja California Musical Arts Center, choirs from the Music degrees coexist, as well as children's choirs from the Redes Children and Youth Program. Together they participate in the seasons of the Baja California Orchestra, and organize the Coralifornia International Festival. The Redes Choirs have participated in Festivals and recitals in Mexico, Colombia and San Diego

Cuyamaca College Choir
At Cuyamaca College Choir, we celebrate the diversity of our members; no matter your age or background, community and meaningful music-making awaits you! Dedicated to the study and performance of diverse choral music, the choir provides a space for the public and for students of the college to develop their knowledge of the genre. Recent performances have included everything from Meredith Monk’s Panda Chant II to El Mesías, Handel’s Messiah for a New World, an exciting ongoing project heralded by Bach Collegium San Diego.

Martin Luther King Jr Community Choir San Diego
The MLK CHOIR is an organization of volunteer singers and directors who perform throughout America and around the world, singing gospel music and educating audiences in the history of African-American music. The choir awards educational grants to graduating high school seniors who are continuing their education in the creative and performing arts.

Promatora de las Bellas Artes
Promotora de las Bellas Artes is a non-profit civil association that has been working since 1992 to reduce the inequality gap in our region. Our programs focus on providing opportunities to girls, boys and adolescents (NNA) in conditions of marginalization and disadvantaged social contexts. We seek to help them strengthen their thinking and socio-emotional skills, in order to contribute to improving their performance and school permanence. We believe that artistic education is one of the fundamental axes for the comprehensive training of the individual in society due to its importance in the development of sensitivity and creative capacity. Thanks to the combined efforts of people and institutions committed to their community, we make it possible.

San Diego Children’s Choir, Premier Choir
The San Diego Children’s Choir is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing the youth of San Diego, ages 1-18, with the opportunity for artistic and personal growth through choral music education. The choir has grown from 42 participants in its inaugural year 35 years ago to nearly 2,000 annually in three major programs, an ensemble program with 6 performing choirs, an early childhood program, and an outreach program serving San Diego’s underprivileged communities at no cost to participating families. Premier Choir is SDCC’s advanced treble choir for grades 7-12 and rehearses once a week.

San Diego Chinese Choral Society
The San Diego Chinese Choral Society (華聖合唱團) was founded in 1988 by a small group of local music lovers, and has grown into a choir of over 30 members. Rehearsing in Mira Mesa on Thursday nights, the SDCCS is San Diego's most long-established Chinese choir. In 2009, Lucy Lin accepted the position of music director, and under her leadership and guidance the choir has performed music in not only Chinese and English, but also Italian, Latin, Hebrew and Swahili and more.

The San Diego Chorus of Sweet Adelines International
For over 70 years, the San Diego Chorus of Sweet Adelines International has performed award-winning, four-part a cappella harmony in the barbershop style. Twice named International Chorus Champion of Women’s Barbershop Harmony, the nonprofit performing arts organization is currently ranked 5th worldwide and will compete internationally in the fall of 2024 in Kansas City. Led by Master Director and Sweet Adelines International Faculty member Kathleen Hansen, the San Diego Chorus is dedicated to education, entertainment and competition. San Diego Festival Chorus
The San Diego Festival Chorus is a community ensemble that offers members a chance to learn and perform music of many genres including classical, traditional, and popular. We perform two concerts a year. We welcome anyone with an interest in joining our friendly and supportive group.

San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus
Under the leadership of Artistic Director Dr. Charles Beale, the San Diego Gay Men’s Chorus celebrates its 39th year of changing lives one voice at a time. With more than 100 active members and 300 alumni on its roster, it is one of the largest gay choruses in the world and has sung at locations including the White House, the Super Bowl, and Lincoln Center. Our mission is to create a positive musical experience through exciting performances which engage our audiences, build community support and provide a dynamic force for social change.

San Diego Saints Choir
The San Diego Saints Choir is an auditioned ensemble with a mission to promote faith in Jesus Christ, unity and goodwill. Founded in 2020, the choir strives for choral excellence in singing a varied repertoire of uplifting works in concert and worship settings throughout the region. The choir is an active member of the Choral Consortium of San Diego and highly values collaborative opportunities in community and interfaith settings that inspire harmony and service.

San Diego Women's Chorus
For over 35 years, the San Diego Women’s Chorus has provided a safe space to encourage women’s creativity, celebrate diversity, and inspire social action. SDWC welcomes women, gender non-conforming, nonbinary, and transgender individuals who sing in the Soprano/Alto (treble) range. As a non-profit community chorus, SDWC entertains and inspires audiences with music that highlights diverse themes, from human rights to world peace, from environmental harmony to cultural diversity. SDWC supports and affirms the music of women and LGBTQ+ composers and arrangers.

Sorelle San Diego
Sorelle, the Italian word for sisters, is an Encinitas-based women's choral ensemble, formed in 2013 by Sally Husch Dean, and directed by Michelle Risling since 2022. The group produces a unique and powerful sound, rich in integrity and heart. The life experiences of the members are diverse, but their common thread is a love and dedication to the choral art. Stellarum
Stellarum is an amateur chamber choir, led by British composer and choral director Benjamin Thiele-Long. The choir’s repertoire blends early and renaissance European sacred choral music with modern spiritual and secular polyphony from around the world. The choir is founded on the principles of encouraging amateur musicianship of all levels. Our aim is to provide a safe and encouraging space to develop and learn a challenging and engaging repertoire while delighting audiences with a beautiful, evocative, and technically excellent performance. The choir performs multiple concerts a year at Kensington Community Church, including the annual and always sold-out “Festival of Christmas”.
