San Diego Referral Exchange — Meet, Connect & Collaborate
About this Event
MEET THE RIGHT PEOPLE — NOT JUST MORE PEOPLE
Most networking events give you a room full of strangers and leave the rest to chance.
San Diego Referral Exchange is designed differently.
This focused two-hour professional connection night brings together business owners, consultants, sales and marketing professionals, real estate professionals, independent operators and other locally active professionals who want to build useful business relationships across San Diego.
The goal isn't to collect 30 business cards.
It's to identify a smaller number of people you may actually want to reconnect with after the event.
Throughout the evening, open networking is combined with structured Connection Rounds, Referral Tables and a simple Connection Card that helps attendees quickly communicate:
What I do
Who I work with
Who I'd like to meet
What type of opportunity or connection I'm open to
No keynote.
No panel.
No long presentations.
No forced pitching.
Just a more intentional way to meet professionals who may become useful referral partners, collaborators, clients, resources or long-term members of your local business network.
WHY ATTEND?
If you've ever left a networking event thinking, “I met a lot of people, but I'm not sure who I should actually follow up with,” this format is designed to solve that problem.
You'll have opportunities to:
Meet professionals outside your existing circle
Explain what you do without delivering a formal pitch
Identify potential referral relationships
Find complementary businesses and service providers
Meet potential collaborators
Discover useful local professional resources
Participate in focused small-group conversations
Exchange LinkedIn details with relevant contacts
Identify your strongest follow-up opportunities before leaving
The emphasis is on relevance over volume.

HOW THE REFERRAL EXCHANGE WORKS
1. CONNECTION CARD
At check-in, paid attendees receive a Connection Card.
You'll identify:
I help:
Who you typically work with.
I'm looking for:
The type of professional connection you'd like to make.
I can connect people with:
Industries, resources or professional communities you already know.
This gives conversations somewhere useful to start.
2. OPEN CONNECTIONS
Start naturally.
Meet other attendees, introduce yourself and find out what they're working on.
There are no required pitches or forced rotations.
3. REFERRAL TABLES
Join small-group tables based on professional interests and connection goals.
Possible groups may include:
Business Owners & Operators
Sales, Marketing & Growth
Real Estate & Property
Professional Services
Technology & Digital
Consultants & Independent Professionals
Final groups will depend on the attendee mix.
Each group uses simple conversation prompts designed to uncover potential professional overlap without turning the experience into speed networking.
4. CONNECTION EXCHANGE
Attendees then move into a structured connection period focused on three questions:
Who should I reconnect with?
Who might I be able to help?
Who might know someone I should meet?
The objective is not to manufacture referrals during the event.
It's to make promising professional relationships easier to identify.
5. YOUR FOLLOW-UP THREE
Before leaving, identify up to three people you want to follow up with.
Paid attendees receive follow-up resources to help turn those initial conversations into actual professional relationships.
IMPORTANT EXPECTATIONS
San Diego Referral Exchange creates opportunities for professionals to meet and connect.
The organizer does not guarantee clients, leads, referrals, sales, partnerships, employment, investment, or other business outcomes.
Attendees are encouraged to approach conversations with a give-and-connect mindset, rather than aggressive selling."
