About this Event
Join us for a half-day camp at SAMSAT, The San Antonio Museum of Science and Technology.
Game Development Camp is a hands-on introduction to coding through creating a fun, playable 2D video game from start to finish. Students follow a clear, beginner-friendly process and leave with a completed game they built themselves.
Students will:
- learn the foundations of game development by building a complete game step-by-step with guided programming lessons.
- write real code to control movement, scoring, win/lose conditions, and basic game rules using beginner-friendly techniques.
- use ready-made 2D art assets so they can focus on learning programming and game logic without needing drawing experience.
- learn how to plan a simple game concept and turn it into a playable project through clear milestones
- practice debugging and problem-solving skills as they test their games and improve how they run and feel.
The camp sessions will be held at SAMSAT's AREA 21® located within the Boeing Center at Tech Port building (3331 General Hudnell, 78226).
Must be a rising 7th-12th grader.
A snack will be provided, but please remember to bring your own water bottle. If you plan to stay for the full day, bring your own lunch.
