Sampling Fundamentals w/SP-404 MKii + MPC Live
About this Event
The 5 attendees of this workshop will participate in exercises for listening and finding samples on vinyl and learn chopping exercises. Thomas Xu (Steady Flight Circle) will be covering the fundamentals of sampling on the MPC Live and SP404mkII platforms. Starting with sample selection, sampling, chopping, and on to sequencing as well as the strengths and characteristics of both platforms.
This workshop is one detail of the main event, Cheap Heat Fest. This record fair, hosted by electronic music label Lunt and Oglesby, is specially curated for DJs, producers, and record collectors. Each vendor will have a selection of sampeable and obscure records at affordable prices. There will be open stations for attendees to sample their purchases on Ableton, MPC One, or Roland SP-404 SX.
Open stations are limited and are first come first served. Buying a workshop ticket guarantees you an opportunity to learn, interact with the available gear, and gain expertise from a seasoned producer.
