SAME BLUE RIDGE POST LUNCHEON PROGRAM

With the uptick in violent events throughout the world—whether active shooter events, assaults, civil unrest, etc.—building owners must plan for the safety of their building occupants. Including security needs during the design phase provides the most effective and cost-efficient solutions for mitigating emergency events, avoiding the potential loss of life, and providing an overall robust security program.

Presenter Ryan Searles of IMEG will discuss the importance of involving security consultants early in the design and how doing so can save time, money, and lives. Searles, who has earned the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Professional Designation (CPD), will discuss how using CPTED strategies can help maintain the aspects that make a facility feel familiar and implement security measures without creating an overly institutionalized aesthetic.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. Learn the true definition of physical security design and how it helps protect and mitigate risk to individuals and occupants of the building.
2. Understand how security design best practices, when applied collaboratively with a cohesive understanding of the project, help protect occupants and mitigate security issues.
3. Learn about the current market trends and differences as they relate to security and design. This will keep individuals up to date with the most recent security layers to deploy and threats that could harm the design or occupants.
4. Understand why involving security design early in design is the best way to ensure the safest building environment for occupants.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Ryan Searles, CPD, is Security Consulting Group Leader at IMEG. He specializes in security assessment and protective services, including active shooter mitigation and response and crisis management. Ryan leverages his comprehensive background and certifications to provide various types of security assessments, CPTED design services, security design, crisis management, active assailant, life safety, and enterprise-wide security and risk management services.

Please note that not all jurisdictions or organizations accept PDH certificates for continuing education.

Note on $25 tickets: Government tickets are for those that are representing their government agency at this meeting. Non-Profit includes associations, academia, or full-time students. Fully-retired means that you are not representing an organization, industry or consulting and are attending independent of firm representation.

DRESS CODE

Gentlemen and Ladies should wear business casual attire. Short sleeved uniform or uniform not requiring coat or tie may be worn at the meeting when it is the prescribed uniform of the day by the respective military services. Business cards are welcome.
