Porto Seguro, along with special guest jazz saxophonist Robert Lewis, will present a collaboration that seamlessly melds Porto’s Brazilian musical style with Lewis’ masterful jazz interpretations. The first concert in Porto's 2025/2026 series, an afternoon of samba, bossa, choro, and jazz, will be on Sunday, November 2 at 4:30 PM at Gage Hall. With Alva Anderson’s soulful voice as its centerpiece, Charleston-based Porto Seguro performs Brazilian samba, bossa, and MPB. Anderson plus instrumentalists: Susan Conant, flute; John Holenko, mandolin; Tom Noren, guitar; John Kennedy, bass; and Bryce Waldron-Noren, drums, plays Brazilian favorites and lesser-known but equally terrific tunes to make your toes tap and your heart sing.
