Samba de Gafieira Intensive

In their first visit to the United States, renowned Brazilian gafieira artists Flavia Teixeira and Vinicius Villiger will be teaching multiple thematic workshops over this two day, two night event.

In addition, Gafieira Los Angeles will host parties on Friday and Saturday nights so that you can practice your new moves!

The intensive is comprised of the following events*:

Friday, Feb 14th (at Motivo LA)

7:45pm-8:45pm: Workshop

9pm-1am: Valentine's Day-themed Party (wear red and/or pink!)

Saturday, Feb 15th (at Motivo LA)

10am-2:30pm: Workshops

9pm-1am: Gafieira LA's One-Year Anniversary Party w/ Live Music

Sunday, Feb 16th (at Pieterson Performance Space)

11am-3:30pm: Workshops

About Flavia & Vinicius

Based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Flavia Teixeira and Vinicius Villiger are celebrated samba de gafieira professionals with over 14 years of partnership. Winners of the 2009 World Samba Brazil Championship, they have performed globally, including with Alcione’s corps de ballet (2009-10) and the European tour of ““Brasil Brasileiro” (2014). As instructors, they have taught at prestigious festivals such as Samba Lyon (France), Sambamaníacos (Brazil) and Sambakana (Canada).

Flavia, a former member of the Comissão de Frente of Estação Primeira de Mangueira samba school, created “Treinando Sozinha” and the subscription service “DicaFlix” for samba followers. Vinicius co-founded the Gafieira Brasil festival and coached its winning teams from 2016-19.

In 2022, Flavia and Vinicius launched “Irmãos do Samba,” a project celebrating the history of samba through events and an annual festival. Dedicated to preserving and promoting samba de gafieira, Flavia and Vinicius inspire with their teaching and artistry worldwide.
