About this Event

Sam Weber is an LA based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist drawing upon the tradition of the great American songsmiths. There’s an emotional, raw simplicity to Sam which, alongside his exceptional musicianship and deeply passionate voice, carries his timeless, clever songs. Not only a prolific song-writer, Sam is also a guitar virtuoso, being one of the youngest musicians to be featured in Guitar Player Magazine.

Released October 2019, Sam’s third studio album, Everything Comes True, reached #86 on the NACC Top 200 Chart, #30 on NACC Canadian Chart and the music has garnered over 500,000 spins on Spotify. Sam’s most recent release Get Free received praise from Bluegrass Situation, Folk Radio UK and many others.

Sam has toured North America as a headliner since 2013 and has opened for acts such as The Tragically Hip, Said the Whale, and Stars. In October 2021 Sam will be opening for beloved international act Bahamas for a month tour through the middle and eastern parts on the US.

The live show is a passionate and heartfelt display of emotive songwriting fused with world-class musicianship and three-part harmony - in the vein of The Band, The Wood Brothers, and Gillian Welch. Sam Weber performs predominately as a trio (electric guitar, bass, and drums).

J.E. Sunde (Jonathan Edward Sunde), a Wisconsin native, is now a Minneapolis, MN based songwriter/composer. Beginning in the years studying western classical music with an emphasis in vocal technique at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, Jon spent a decade writing beautifully unusual music with indie-folk trio The Daredevil Christopher Wright. He has since released three solo records, his most recent being “9 Songs About Love” (Vietnam Label) released November of 2020. Bob Boilen of NPR’s All Things Considered speaks of the album "as a fight against melancholy that ends up in a surpassing place — it also speaks to the notion of knowing when a good idea has turned into a great one." With an affinity for the classic American songwriters and performers like Leonard Cohen, Nina Simone, and Paul Simon, Jon writes densely poetic songs with a bent toward the philosophical.

There is subtle witty humor threaded throughout the live performance as the music pirouettes between introspective balladry and infectious bouncy folk-pop numbers. Also, his voice sounds like some sort of weird angel.

J.E. Sunde performs solo and as a trio (guitar, bass, and drums)
