Join us on Saturday, February 21 to explore: Dancing to the Lyrics - With Your PartnerThis is a 2.5 hour special workshop hosted by Sam Lingane and Robert Crocker
Sam and Robert Explore is a recurring workshop concept where we take you on a deep dive through a topic we are passionate about — giving you a glimpse into how we think and interpret this dance, both individually and within our partnership.
Our goal is to create a space where you are encouraged to ask questions, talk through your ideas, and discover your own identity in this dance.
The topic for this workshop is: Dancing to the Lyrics - With Your Partner
Hitting lyrics in a song can be one of the most rewarding - and challenging - moments in a dance. During this workshop, we will demystify the art of dancing to the lyrics, giving you tools to hear what is being said, play with the flow of the lyrics, and help your partner, and/or the audience, hear what you hear…
What you can expect during this 2.5-hour workshop:
-An exploration of songs, breaking down the lyrical structures and rhythms
-Practice dancing to specific lyrics with Sam and Robert
-Discussion and Q&A on what challenges you face when trying to dance to the lyrics
-Additional open practice at the end to apply the skills socially
Please come with:
-An understanding of your 6- and 8-count basics
-A base understanding of frame and connection
-An open mind to slow down and explore
You do not need a partner for this workshop — we will be rotating.
