About this Event
Curated by Paul Branton and A Film Called Black for HOSTE, this three-month artist residency and exhibition explores Chicago’s Black musical legacy through Blues, Jazz, Gospel, Soul, Funk, R&B, and House.
The program traces how these sounds continue to shape Chicago’s musical landscape and influence music globally today. Through live performances, curated DJ sets, art exhibitions, and special guests, the residency bridges Chicago’s rich musical past with the city’s thriving contemporary music scene and its global impact.
On opening night, April, 3rd, 2026, we celebrate the Chicago's musical legacy through the lens of DJ Slot-A and featured artists: Paul Branton (curating artist), Roger Carter, Martha Wade, Pugs Atomz, Reggie Mcfly, Angelica London, Obi Soulstar, and Seed Lynn.
