Salud's "Día De Muertos" A Grief Floral Workshop
About this Event
About the Event
Salud Presents Día De Muertos: A Grief Floral Workshop on Tuesday, October 20
Why: Grief is part of the immigrant experience, whether it comes from family separation, the loss of home, the loss of safety, or the loss of loved ones. Too often, we carry it quietly while we focus on keeping our families safe. Salud Chicago is creating space to set that weight down one moment at a time.
Event: The grief floral workshop led by Verde is a hands on floral workshop and gentle conversation rooted in the immigrant and Latine experience. Flowers have long been part of how our communities honor the people, places, and chapters we miss, from ofrendas to altars to gifts at a graveside. Together, we'll use them to make room for what we're carrying.
There will be self led grief conversation topics and questions created by Latin therapists and licensed mental health professionals who understand the current moment. No experience with flowers is needed, and there's no pressure to share more than you want to. You are welcome to arrange in silence, in conversation, or somewhere in between.
Together we'll explore how grief shows up in our bodies and daily lives, how to care for ourselves and each other through loss, and how healing can live alongside the realities we navigate as working professionals, entrepreneurs, parents, caretakers, and all the identities we carry.
What is Provided: Floral, mterial, guided design, light sips, and self led grief conversation starters, topics and questions (Eng/Spanish) led by Latin therapists and licensed mental health professionals.
What Proceeds Supports: Your participation also supports immigrant mental health effortsa and mutual aid for families impacted by ICE a year after Midway Blitz began in Chicago.

About Salud Salud is a Latine family founded nonprofit created by and for the community. We are an organization led by psychologists, social workers, case managers, and health care providers who have similar backgrounds to the communities we serve. Salud was started to help normalize conversations about mental health. We believe that if we want to discuss topics like mental health, there should be spaces that offer a safe, trusted, appropriate & professionally led approach to help do so in our communities. Salud applies research & evidence-based approaches to create a safe space to intentionally facilitate these conversations and create space for the communities we serve. Salud acknowledges that these formally led conversations can happen in different settings, from large universities to intimate spaces within our communities. Cheers, ’Salud’ to normalizing our mental health and healing the culture together.
