Saltwater Tongues: Marine-themed Poetry Night (Vancouver edition!)

Join Georgia Strait Alliance and CPAWS-BC for an evening of sharing poetry and stories about the ocean. From marine mammals to bull kelp, and the deep connections people have to the Salish Sea.
Join us at Spartacus Books (101 - 1983 Commercial Drive, Vancouver) for an evening of listening, sharing, and reflecting on this extraordinary sea and the life within it.
From the whales and salmon that move through its waters to the kelp forests, shorelines, and communities that call it home, the Salish Sea connects us in countless ways. Together, let’s imagine and speak into being a more just, resilient, and thriving future for this shared place. We believe change begins in the communities we live in. By coming together, sharing stories, and making space for different ways of knowing and expressing ourselves, we can create pathways to action that everyone can participate in.

Bring a poem, story, or words about the ocean and/or the Salish Sea that you’d like to share. This is a fun, welcoming, and accessible space for all kinds of creative expression—whether you bring your own words, the words of others, or simply come to listen and soak it all in.

This night is about connecting through art, transformation, and community care. It’s a space to reflect on how resilience moves through both bodies and water.

We’ll also have resources on how to take action for the Salish Sea, because we know storytelling and advocacy belong together.
