It has been 3 years since we saw Gil and Shelley up North, and everyone loved their last workshop at SalsaUnity.
If you remember back in 2017 when also had these AMAZING Teachers up north too, always a firm favourite and so well known on the SBK Circuit.

Pexava Dance Company was founded by Shelley Cook and Gil Prado Mendez to provide top quality Salsa in London. They run weekly classes, socials and intensive courses, and they perform and teach throughout Europe and the rest of the world at Professional World Championship level.
Their aim is to help salsa dancers of all levels to develop to the best of their ability and to have lots of fun in the process. They focus heavily on technique and are known worldwide for their professionalism and passion.
Together as Pexava Dance Company, which means “Lightning Fast” in Mayan from Gil’s native Mexico, husband and wife Gil and Shelley are an explosive combination on stage and inspire students of every level in their lessons. They are the only salsa couple in the UK to have both competed and placed in major World Championship competitions. Named as “The UK’s Best Salsa Performers”, they have appeared on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, are credited Feature Dancers in "Cuban Fury" the movie, have appeared on the catwalk at Britain and Ireland’s Next Top Model, are salsa consultants for “Matilda” the Musical, and recently made it through to the Judges’ Shortlist on Sky One’s "Got To Dance", winning 3 gold stars.
They are no strangers to us up North, but we haven't seen them in 5 years, and trying to pin them down with suitable dates etc has always been a challenge.
We cant wait to see them both back up north.
For those that have experienced these type of learning experiences with me before know that you'll gain an immense amount of knowledge to really take your dancing to another level.
We will be kick starting our 3 hour workshop at midday at our venue Crigglestone club ( where we hold our monthly events.
Our workshop will very much focus on Technique whilst in partnerwork and how to enhance your connection with your dance partner, having a better understanding of technique will most certainly improve your Social dancing skills, and give you the confidence to dance with anyone that asks.
After the 3 hour workshop we will have light refreshments available.
I want people to be able to attend these events and it not break the bank, hence the low price of £35 for this full day, not only does this include 3 hours intensive learning, but it also includes entrance to our evening event of social dancing and another class with Gil & Shelley in our Shine off Leaders V Followers Class.
We then have as always an AMAZING DJ for the night, and one of our absolute favourites is coming along.
⭐️DJ EDDIE HUNT ⭐️( A regular SalsaUnity DJ )
Abanico Salsa provides many monthly and quarterly salsa events to the whole of the South West of England, with classes and parties based in both Bristol and Clevedon. He co-hosts the Montuno Monthly, as well the co creator, host and resident DJ of the Southwest’s first 100% vinyl night ‘Saturday Shingaling’. His dance nights are just as much about the music as well as the dancing.
Eddie has been a guest DJ at The Yorkshire Salsa Congress,SalsaUnity, UK Salsa Marathon, Salsology in Manchester, Alchemy in Basingstoke, NYC in Selby, Selly Oak (Latin Motion) Birmingham, Salsa at the Pier in Weston Super Mare which regularly has 350+ plus dancers in attendance and Bristol Salsa Congress, to name a few.
