Cuban Salsa for Beginners
This is a beginner-level course — no previous dance experience is required!
The exact content may vary depending on the participants, but generally includes:
Introduction to salsa steps: basic step, forward and back step, side step, partner openings and holds
Hip movements for ladies and shoulder movements for men
Introduction to salsa turns: right turn, left turn for both followers and leaders, with various lead techniques
Rueda de Casino
Cross-body lead basics: following techniques for ladies and leading techniques for men
Dance floor combinations and partner dancing
You can also expect:
A fun and positive atmosphere
Stress relief
Clear and easy-to-follow instructions
A chance to meet lots of new people
Note: You don’t need a partner to join the class!
This class is for those who know the basic salsa steps as well as the fundamental figures and are ready to take the next step. However, it is the instructor’s responsibility to let you know when you are ready for this level.
The content of the classes may vary depending on the students’ wishes, but the general curriculum includes:
Review and development of the basic steps from beginner classes.
Developing creativity and confidence in salsa, as well as becoming fully aware of salsa rhythms and timing.
Adapting to different partners with different dance styles.
Rueda de Casino.
Learning more intricate combinations and increasing the number of movements before the same combination is repeated.
Learning light leading, giving clear signals, and understanding tempo and timing.
Learning to vary between warm-up/footwork/partner work and combinations with a dance partner.
Cross-body turns, half turns, and advanced turns in combinations, as well as cross-body leads with advanced turns in combinations.
Introduction to double or multiple turns in partner-work combinations.
Introduction to ladies’ and men’s styling.
Students can also expect:
A fun and positive attitude in a social environment;
Stress relief;
Clear and easy-to-follow instruction;
A new social network.
Note: You do not need to bring a partner to the classes.
After the class, there is free dancing, where a wide variety of music genres will be played, such as salsa, bachata, forró, merengue, reggaeton, and more. This will give you plenty of opportunity to practice and develop your new salsa steps.

After the classes, stick around for open dancing! We’ll play a diverse mix of music styles including salsa, bachata, forró, merengue, reggaeton, and more — giving you the perfect opportunity to practice and develop your new dance moves.
