Salsa & Soma is a guided movement experience blending somatic awareness, Afro-Latin rhythm, and partner connection through salsa.
The event begins with a 45-minute guided experience, followed by an open and welcoming community salsa social.
Your experience includes:

We begin by arriving in the body through breath, grounding, and gentle movement. From there, you will explore rhythm, coordination, musical awareness, and energy through accessible salsa-based exercises.
The experience then moves into guided partner connection, exploring presence, listening, leading, following, and nonverbal communication. You do not need to bring a partner, and no previous salsa experience is required.
This is not a traditional salsa class focused on memorizing choreography or performing complicated combinations. Salsa & Soma invites you to explore the relationship between your body, mind, the music, and the people around you—with an emphasis on connection, expression, curiosity, and play.
After the guided experience, the floor will open for a relaxed community salsa social. Stay to dance, connect with others, enjoy the music, or simply take in the atmosphere.

About Your Facilitator
Musa Starseed is an Afro-Latin movement coach, professional dancer, educator, DJ, author, and founder of Social Dance Mastery.
His work explores musicality, embodied communication, partner dynamics, and the cultural foundations of Afro-Latin social dance. Musa is the author of Social Dance Dynamics, a new book introducing his Dynamic Movement Model—a framework for understanding movement qualities, energetic communication, and connection between dance partners.
Open to all levels. No partner or previous dance experience is necessary—just a willingness to move, explore, and connect.
Please wear comfortable clothing, bring water, and arrive 10–15 minutes early so we can begin together.
