Salsa 101 with Mel Hart

Join Mel in this fun introductory class that focuses on basic salsa footwork, partnering and styling! Feel free to come with family or friends and develop your movement and rhythm to some great tunes! All ages and levels welcome!

Mel Hart is an established dance artist from Scarborough, Ontario with a Bachelor of Fine Arts specializing in Dance from York University. She is a co-founder of SaMel Tanz, a contemporary dance collective with Samantha Schleese and produced works for the Toronto Fringe Festival, Breakin’ Convention, Next Stage Festival, Dance Made in Canada/ Fait du Canada Festival and Summerworks Festival. Mel is also a member of Hip Hop dance crew DEUCEnDIP, who established themselves on MuchMusic’s NML Dance Battlez and performed on stages for Manifesto, WE DAY, Canada’s Walk of Fame and World Pride. Mel has danced for international artists such as Jason Derulo, Sean Paul and the legendary Black Thought of the Roots and opened for Latin artists such as Bad Bunny, Prince Royce, and Gente de Zona.

This class is free for participants, thanks to the generous support of Assembly Park and York Region Arts Council. Enjoy food trucks and an artisan market before or after class!
