The Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc, creators of the annual Joan of Arc Parade on Twelfth Night in New Orleans, will host its annual free conference about Joan of Arc, along with medieval history, Louisiana's French culture, and the state's Catholic culture from 9:30 to 11:30 am on Saturday, October 4, at the East Bank Regional Library, (4747 West Napoleon Avenue in Metairie).
This event is free of charge and open to the public. Registration is not required.
Scott Tilton, reigning King Charles VII of the Krewe de Jeanne d’Arc and founder/executive director of the New Orleans Foundation for Francophone Cultures (Nous), will speak about his work in building and expanding the local Francophone landscape. His talk “Le Vent Se Lève: Advocating for French in Louisiana in 2025,” will feature a variety of French teachers and community leaders engaged in French language initiatives statewide.
The salon will also include a theatrical presentation of Joan of Arc’s life story complete with slides and medieval music, followed by a talk about the One Hundred Years War, and a panel discussion titled “Yat Catholics,” moderated by Chris Wiseman, the Executive Director of the Catholic Cultural Center of New Orleans.
There will be information tables about the krewe and a sign-up station for new walking members or volunteers, as well as books for sale for the Joan of Arc Book Club, and more.
For the full schedule of Salon de Jeanne d’Arc talks and more information about the krewe’s year-round cultural activities, visit www.joanofarcparade.org.
